Our Glorious Founder works over-time for us! On this page is a collection of software that Laz has found and made available to us so that we may be better able to fight the demons of the internet. As Laz places each itme in the FILES section in EW1, I will also bring it to you via the web pages - HAPPY COMPUTING!

ANTIVIR.EXE

AntiVir Personal Edition is a virus scanner that detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. It recognizes macro viruses and can repair MS Office documents to remove the macro. The scanning engine uses heuristics to protect you against previously unknown macro, boot record and master boot record viruses. The resident Virus Guard automatically monitors file movements, e.g. while accessing files and downloading programs from the internet. The Internet-Update Wizard allows for easy updating of this software.

ADAWARE.EXE

'Spyware' is advertising software that is installed with ad-supported programs. Ad-aware scans your memory, registry and hard drives for known spyware and lets you remove it safely. Many often-used advertising systems are detected by Ad-aware like Aureate, Comet, DoubleClick, Gator and many more. Ad-aware has an easy-to-use, wizard-style interface and can either automatically or manually scan your PC. Detected spyware is shown in a listbox, where you can select which advertising systems you want deleted.

This download is available free at http://download.coinweb.org/, or people can get the CD-ROM for $6.95. This is BETA The software is frequently updated via the web, addresses a very large (and growing) number of errors and varieties, and will link to a posting web site (auction, direct sale, swap, trade, etc) which is currently up in beta format at http://208.254.98.25/coinweblisting/.

PFIREWALL.EXE

Tiny Personal Firewall - The most important thing to consider is that this Firewall is the same as the one in WinRoute, which is ICSA Certified. Many retail versions don't make it to this list. - freeware

REFUPDATE.EXE

Ever wonder how you get all that spam in your mailbox? What man can do, man can undo. This great program eliminates spyware, and it's 100% free. Ad-Aware has been around for some time and I personally use it. Recently, an automatic file update add on has been made available. I highly recommend both. The auto update can be downloaded by using this link.I will be adding more freeware here as time goes by, only the best of the best. Anything less would not do for EW member's!
